They are hammered using an ancient Palu method, where typically a husband and wife take turns hammering the metal. The dot motif represents boundless love and infinite possibility, as a dot does not have a beginning or end.

Each piece of jewelry from John Hardy is meticulously hand crafted by local Balinese artisans employed from the surrounding communities. The jewelry goes through an intricate eight step process which includes wax carving, casting, and gemstone setting. John Hardy has ensured that the techniques used, such as carving, hand-hammering, and chain weaving, are true to the traditions of the Balinese royal courts.
